Breathable corridors project kick-off seminar

The Urban Green Infrastructure research group officially started their program last Thursday, 2nd June 2022! In this two-day seminar, researchers from different clusters gathered together with the supervisors and guest researchers (at the Oscar von Miller Forum in Munich) to meet, exchange ideas and shape the framework for their collaboration.

Our researchers, Mahtab Baghaiepoor and Sindi Haxjia attended the seminar along with Prof. Dr. Gebhard Wulfhorst to represent the chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning. Mahtab is the main researcher working on Subproject 2: “Breathable Corridors: Active mobility in multifunctional urban spaces” and Sindi will contribute to the justice-related aspect of the project.

Mahtab’s primary goal in this research is to identify the elements of the large-scale Urban Green Network that have an impact on the people’s comfort when moving actively in the city by a bike or on foot! This research training group provides the opportunity for all researchers to benefit from each other’s project to build a greater knowledge on how we can move towards more sustainable urban environments.

On the second day of the seminar, researchers talked about their foreseen obstacles and challenges and explored the ways of more fruitful collaborations between them. Supervisors facilitated 15-minute workshops that guided the researchers think through these processes and help them decide which projects can work more closely and what the next steps should be. Breathable corridors project will be collaborating with researchers from sp1, sp3, sp5, sp7.
