UNLOCK15
Empowering People for Transitions to Unlock the 15-Minute City
We’re looking for local initiatives, associations, and organizations from the “Rechts der Wertach” neighborhood in Augsburg who are interested in regularly exchanging ideas with us and becoming part of a research-driven learning and experimentation space. The Learning-Living-Lab offers a space to share your own experiences, gain new perspectives, and collaboratively work on future-oriented solutions for your neighborhood – whether as a practice partner, idea provider, or co-creator.
What’s it about?
As part of the UNLOCK15 project's Learning-Living-Lab, we aim to explore together with local actors how the transition to a sustainable city can succeed – based on past experiences and current observations.
We rely on mutual exchange, testing of methods, and collective reflection.
What to expect:
Regular meetings every 2–3 months
On-site in Augsburg / Rechts der Wertach
Focused discussions on rotating local topics
Testing of various tools and methods to explore new forms of urban empowerment
Open exchange and feedback on the content and structure of the meetings
Interested?
We look forward to hearing from you! Feel free to contact us for more information via email: Ms. Lea Zuckriegl (lea.zuckriegl@tum.de) and/or Mr. Sebastian Seisenberger (sebastian.seisenberger@tum.de)

General Project Description
The UNLOCK15 project, full title “Empowering People for Transitions to Unlock the 15-Minute City,” is a Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) funded project that aims to facilitate the transition towards sustainable urban mobility. Coordinated by the Technical University of Munich under the leadership of Dr.-Ing. Benjamin Büttner, the project brings together six primary partners and 17 cooperating organizations from various European countries, forming a consortium of academic institutions, municipalities, SMEs, and non-profit organizations.
The primary objective of UNLOCK15 is to empower citizens and local authorities to overcome behavioral, technological, and institutional barriers that impede the transition to a 15-Minute City (15mC). The 15-Minute City concept revolves around creating urban environments where residents can access most of their daily needs within a 15-minute walk or bike ride from their homes.
Objectives
Understand Transition Pathways: Investigate transition pathways to the 15-Minute City and the public discourses surrounding these transitions to better comprehend the socio-technical dynamics involved.
Empower Citizens: Compile, develop, and test various tools designed to empower citizens in the transition process towards the 15-Minute City, enhancing their engagement and participation.
Co-create Narratives: Develop and apply methods for co-creating common local narratives and envisioning possible futures with community stakeholders, ensuring inclusive and participatory planning processes.
Foster Institutional Learning: Promote institutional learning and citizen empowerment through the implementation and evaluation of Learning Living Labs, facilitating reflection, action, and knowledge exchange between partner cities.
