MogLi (Barrier-free school transport)

Integration of children and young adullts with intellectual disabilities into pubilc transport

Mobility is a human basic need. This also holds for people with intellectual disabilites. However this population group is predominant constricted in its mobility, because for them there are extensive access problems on many transport means. Knowledge about the real barriers for people with mental disability within the transportation system is missing. Furthermore, basic abilities concerning the independent moving are not learned, because of the transportation by special door-to-door services.

So the aims of this project are an integration of people with mental disability into the local public transport with the starting at school age and their long lasting ability of an independent moving.

A pilot application takes place in the “Vechtetalschule” in Lower Saxony. Thereby the daily way to school is the training area to learn necessary abilities to handle with the use of public transport.
