MobilityCoins for the management of multimodal urban transportation and delivery systems
| This sub‑project, embedded in the AgiMo Collaborative Research Centre, evaluates MobilityCoin (MoCo) for online shopping. A gamified, multi‑agent experiment platform to study how incentive schemes, pricing, and information provision shape individual and system‑level mobility choices and shopping behavior. The project combines interactive “serious game” experiments with data‑driven behavioral modeling and large‑scale simulation. Participants earn and spend MobilityCoins, a form of tradable mobility credits, for daily travel decisions under realistic constraints (time, cost, emissions, and service availability), enabling controlled evaluation of policies such as pricing, or the indication and internalization of externalities caused |

We integrate experimental evidence with the AgiMo Digital Twin to calibrate and validate behavioral models, then test policy packages at scale under real‑world network, demand, and service conditions. The project advances: (i) incentive mechanism design for sustainable, equitable, and efficient mobility; (ii) empirical identification of heterogeneous traveler responses; and (iii) iterative planning workflows that couple human‑in‑the‑loop experimentation with simulation. Outcomes include open experimental protocols, a reusable software stack for multiplayer mobility experiments, and decision support tools for public agencies and operators to co‑design robust, human‑centered mobility transitions within the CRC. |
