Symposium for the Integration of Land-Use and Transport Models

A few selected top-level experts were invited to this workshop to advance theory and implementation of integrating land use and transport models. The goal was to explore questions such as:

• Can microscopic integration at the agent-level improve the integration of land use and transport models?
• Is there information beyond travel times and zonal location of population and employment that should be exchanged between the land use and transport models?
• How can we deal with different time scales of ad-hoc transportation choices and long-term housing choices?
• What is the right balance between model detail and reasonable runtimes?
• Do we need additional tools, such as environmental impact models, health impact models, of fiscal impact models, to complement the land use/transport feedback cycle?

The workshop took place November 2nd to November 4th, 2016.

A special workshop needs a unique venue. The Technical University of Munich recently renovated a 12th-centuary Cistercian Monastery in Raitenhaslach, located between Munich and Salzburg. Now called the TUM Science & Study Center Raitenhaslach, this venue was an inspiring site to work on integrated land use/transport modeling.
