As part of the initative TUM Project Week, students will be invited to work in interdisciplinary teams on different topics. Within the Winter term 2025/2026, we are offering two courses which can be integrated into (almost) any study program. Our offers are
Planning for Mobility Justice
This course introduces the concept of mobility justice and enables students to critically analyze and question injustices in the accessibility and use of urban spaces. Based on a three-part structure—awareness, assessment, and addressing—participants examine theoretical foundations, practical approaches, and the experiences of affected individuals. Using case studies, they examine real-world problems using a mixed-methods approach. In groups, students develop creative social interventions – such as podcasts, comics, architectural models, or board games – to promote public awareness and drive change. By combining academic discussion and practical work, the course strengthens critical thinking, empathy, and commitment to a more equitable and inclusive mobility system.
Applied Citizen Participation
The Applied Citizen Participation Project Week creates a common platform for interdisciplinary learning among students to explore the topic of participation in greater depth. During the week, students will gain in-depth methodological knowledge of citizen participation in urban and mobility development. However, the skills learned in the area of participation can also be transferred to other fields of application. The block course enables practice-oriented and interactive learning by having students develop a joint participation strategy for a real mobility challenge in the Munich metropolitan region. The challenges are set by the Munich Cluster for the Future of Mobility in Metropolitan Regions (MCube). The question “How can participation processes be designed in a transformative way so that they contribute to the long-term cultural anchoring of the mobility transition?” accompanies the entire course.
