Call for Contributions
Smart Rail Reliability Modelling and Capacity Management Workshop
The TUM Professorship for Design and Operation of Public Rail Transport Systems organizes a Workshop on Modelling Approaches and Best Practices for Smart Rail Capacity Management.
The workshop will cover topics related to performance modelling, robustness and resilience of rail transportation systems, including, e.g.,
Performance Analysis of Railway Systems
Delay Pattern Analysis and Prediction
Metrics and Approaches for Network Capacity Modelling
Innovative Simulation Approaches
Rail Service Demand Modelling
Digital and Technological Advances and their Impact on Reliability and Performance
Infrastructure and Network Design
We invite both methodological contributions, as well as practice-oriented talks on challenges, best practices and open problems related to the areas mentioned above. By providing a forum to discuss methodological advances as well as open problems in railway operations modelling and analysis the workshop aims to contribute to strengthening the knowledge base, as well as scientific support for solving key problems in railway system management.
Date: 02-03 March, 2026
Location: TUM Science and Study Center, Raitenhaslach (near Burghausen), see here.
Costs: The workshop is free of charge; transfer to and from Munich will be organized.
Accommodation in Burghausen can be reserved via framework agreements with Hotel Glöcklhofer or Hotel Burgblick. For details please contact the Professorship for Design and Operations of Public Rail Transport Systems.
The workshop is preliminary scheduled as a 2-Day Workshop starting on March 02 at 10:00 and ending on March 03 at 15:00. A social event / joint dinner on March 02 is included. A guided tour to the Castle of Burghausen (longest castle in the world) will be organized for interested participants in the afternoon of the second day. More information will follow.
