We are pleased to welcome Finn to the Professorship of Autonomous Vehicle Systems (AVS) at the Technical University of Munich. With a strong background in electrical engineering and extensive experience in autonomous driving, we are excited about his contributions as a doctoral candidate in our lab.
Finn earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Automation Engineering at DHBW Mannheim. During his studies, he became actively involved in Formula Student Driverless, where he gained early hands-on experience in the development of autonomous systems and developed a strong interest in automated and autonomous driving.
He continued his academic path at the Technical University of Munich, where he pursued a master’s degree and further deepened his expertise in autonomous vehicle technologies. During his master’s studies, he worked on autonomous driving research topics at TUM and gained industry experience at DeepDrive and BMW. At BMW, his work focused on autonomous driving applications, ranging from LiDAR-based computer vision in series development to advanced perception methods. He completed his master’s thesis in the field of 3D scene reconstruction in collaboration with BMW and the AVS Lab.
Since October 25, Finn has been conducting his PhD research at the AVS Lab under the supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johannes Betz. His research focuses on personalized autonomous driving, with a particular emphasis on integrating dynamic and human-related factors into Vision-Language-Model (VLM) and Vision-Language-Action (VLA) architectures to enable more adaptive and user-centered driving behavior.
We are confident that his interdisciplinary background and strong connection between research and industry will significantly contribute to the ongoing work at the AVS Lab. We warmly welcome Finn and wish him every success in his doctoral journey.
Welcome to the team!
