David Durán Rodas is going to present his M.Sc. thesis on Thursday 2nd of November 2017 10:00 o'clock at the meeting room of the chair of Transportation Systems Engineering at (Parkring 37 85748 Garching).

Abstract

Car sharing and bike sharing are two examples of shared mobility that have shown environmental, social and economic benefits. Therefore, there is a need to continue their deployment and enhance their demand. This thesis focuses on developing the methodological framework to identify factors that affect the intensity of their arrivals and departures. The area of implementation of this method is in six cities in Germany using the bike sharing system “Call a bike.” 689 observations and more than 200 exogenous factors were correlated with linear and decision trees regression models. The outcome is a ranking list of the variables with the most influence and the model with the better performance to predict the vehicles' demand.
