Objectives

After successful participation in the course, students will be able to: - Understand the interrelationships between land use and transport - Transfer the acquired knowledge to new areas - Assess the effects of traffic measures - Define suitable transport management strategies in terms of sustainable mobility

Description

The focus of the lecture is on teaching the interrelationships between settlement structure and transport: - Historical city structures - Transport supply - Territorial structure and spatial planning instruments - Travel demand and traffic impacts - Accessibility - Regional land-use and transport concepts - Neighborhood mobility - Transport demand management

Teaching and learning methods

The course consists of a lecture supported by a PowerPoint presentation, where opportunities for discussion are given. Furthermore, a half day excursion is organized, which aims to emphasize the relations between land use and transport planning on site. Expert guest speakers are invited for certain topics. A 30-minute test exam takes place mid-semester. The test exam is voluntary and will not be graded.
