TUM Project Week 2025 "Applied citizen participation" - Registration is now open!

The "Applied Citizen Participation" Project Week offers students a platform for interdisciplinary learning, allowing them to dive deep into the concept of participation. Focused on urban and mobility development, this hands-on block course empowers participants with essential skills to drive citizen involvement. The tools and methods learned, can be applied far beyond mobility, opening doors to other sectors.

Throughout the week, students engage in interactive, practice-oriented learning as they collaboratively design a citizen participation strategy for a real-world mobility challenge in the Munich metropolitan region. These challenges are provided by the Munich Cluster for the Future of Mobility in Metropolitan Regions (MCube). The core question driving the project is: "How can participation processes be designed in a transformative way to contribute to the long-term cultural anchoring of the mobility transition?"

Each day of the seminar is guided by an expert in participation who, through workshops, case studies, and activities, equips students with the methodological tools they need. Under active mentorship from the Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning and supported by peer learning, students develop strategies to address their real-life mobility challenges. The week closes with student groups presenting their strategies to an expert panel, composed of scientists, participation specialists, and challenge providers. A reflective discussion rounds off the seminar, where insights and lessons learned are explored in depth.
