MCube Speaker Series "Future of Mobility: Das System Bus radikal neu gedacht" am 26.01.2023

"The future does not begin sometime, but today". With this attitude, four experts from the field of bus transport held keynote speeches and answered questions from the audience.

The 7th event of the MCube Speaker Series "Future of Mobility" talked about the bus system and its classic and new application formats. Different visions and missions were presented by various speakers who talked about the bus and its characteristics, diversity, variety and application possibilities on and off the familiar route. A big THANK YOU to the speakers:

Thorsten Bergmaier-Trede gave interesting insights into how MAN Truck & Bus SE thinks about the evolution of the classic bus and how an adapted design can offer more application possibilities than "just" passenger transport.

Dr. Martin Dürr presented interesting facts about the autonomous public transport solution of DROMOS GmbH. Did you know that the tyre abrasion of the DROMOS system is ecologically degradable? Keyword: dandelion juice. It is not the first thing that comes to mind about autonomous systems, but in a holistic view it is part of it.

Johannes Barckmann had brought, at least in his lecture, the EDAG Group's Citybot. The Citybot consists of a powerful so-called tractor module that can be extended by various additional module types: Transporting people, shovelling snow, picking up rubbish, ... In short: many different applications are possible.

Moritz Seidenfus presented the STEAM research project at the Technical University of Munich. If a means of transport is designed to be attractive to the user, it will be used more, which leads to less traffic on the roads, which in turn benefits the reliability of the system. An upward spiral begins.

Tobias Glaß gave insights into the practice of Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (MVG). Three points are currently being addressed with regard to buses: Digitalisation, electrification and automation. A lot is happening that may not be visible at first glance!

Many thanks also to the moderator of the evening, Dr.-Ing. Julia Kinigadner, who represented MCube - Munich Cluster for the Future of Mobility in Metropolitan Regions. As always, we would also like to thank the Transport Centre of the Deutsches Museum and its director Dr. Bettina Gundler, who always welcomes us personally to the auditorium in Hall 3 for this event.

It was a very exciting and informative evening: we are looking forward to more! The next Speaker Series will take place in March 2023.
