Johannes Betz Elected Treasurer of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Robotik (DGR)
At its first official members’ meeting on September 17, 2026, in Berlin, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Robotik (DGR) e.V. elected a new Executive Board. The board officially took office on October 1, 2026.
The newly elected board consists of Wolfram Burgard (TU Nürnberg) as President, Georgia Chalvatzaki (TU Darmstadt) as Vice President, Johannes Betz (TU Munich) as Treasurer, and Alice Kirchheim as Secretary.
For the TUM Autonomous Vehicle Systems Lab, the election is particularly significant: Prof. Dr. Johannes Betz has been elected Treasurer of the DGR, contributing to the further development of a national platform that connects robotics research, industry, startups, education, and society.
The new Executive Board succeeds the founding board of Tamim Asfour, Oliver Brock, Angela Schoellig, and Marc Toussaint, who established the organizational foundations of the association.
Founded in 2026 and emerging from the Robotics Institute Germany initiative, the DGR aims to strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange across Germany’s robotics community and to represent German robotics nationally and internationally.
We congratulate Johannes and the entire new Executive Board and look forward to the DGR’s next
